We saw Santa!

So our neighborhood put on a big holiday festival this past Saturday. They had Santa and Mrs. Claus for pictures as well as reindeer rides (ponies), jumping castles, Arizona outdoor "ice skating," face painting, games, ornament painting, and all that good stuff. I'm a crappy mom and I had never taken my girls to see Santa so I made it a priority to get to this little festival. Ethan wasn't thrilled about the Santa thing (I'm not sure if he still believes or not...) but I made him go for a picture with the girls at least. Much to my surprise, Maddi was super excited to go see him, Bailey was concerned about the big man with the obviously fake beard, but still happy and ok with sitting on his lap, and Ethan even sat on his lap and told him what he wanted for Christmas! It was awesome!!
Merry Christmas

Gingerbread Men

I made gingerbread cookies for the first time! They actually turned out really well....once I got the awful smell of molasses out of my nose. We had some friends over to help us decorate them and eat tons of candy. Yum!!

Make me a tent Mom!!!

So Bailey and Maddi are ALWAYS wanting me to make them tents with blankets on the couches, chairs, etc. I used to love doing this with my bunk beds when I was little and they loved it too!

Jack-o-lanterns and Jars

I went to a girls night with some friends last night and we carved pumpkins!
The other day a friend of mine invited me over to make these fun little Halloween decorations out of mason jars! They turned out really cute and look even better with a candle lit in them!

(Sorry if the pictures aren't very good, they're from my phone)

Family night at the lake

Last night we headed down to the lake to have a picnic dinner with the girls. The girls had fun running around and throwing little pebbles in the lake. We had fun trying to keep the girls from falling in the lake. It was a lot of fun though and we even got some exercise walking around the lake!

Goodbye Mesa, Welcome Back Sahuarita

Mesa
So poop happens....every 3 months apparently for us....but we're happy to be back in Sahuarita again! Although I really liked the house we were living in up in Mesa it feels good to be home. I just can't say how stupid I felt asking people to help us move when they are the ones who helped us move just 2 months ago! Oh well, I'm over it. Now all we need is a job...

T-Town for the weekend

We spent the past weekend in Tucson. Stephen was actually laid off again last week so we thought, hey, we might be able to save our house from selling on a short sale if Stephen can find a job back in T-town! He has sent his resume to lots of places so cross your fingers that we find something....FAST!

Aside from job hunting we got to go visit our old house. And by "visit" I mean Stephen dropped me off to go pull weeds for 2 hours in the heat with the girls while he went to see a few potential employers. No hard feelings, I got a tan. We remembered how much we love our house down there - minus the 1 scorpion we found by the front door. We stayed the whole weekend with my wonderful mom. She didn't mind that we invited ourselves over for 3 days and didn't hesitate to feed us pratically every meal. I know everyone thinks their mom is the best, but you're all wrong, my mom is the best.
Then I got to see my niece, Jordynn, play in her first soccer game, which was awesome, and she even scored a goal! Go Jordy! The girls got to play with Ethan and their cousin, Makayla. My mom took us out to eat at Red Lobster (or Red Monster, as Bailey calls it) YUM! Stephen had a productive meeting with a friend about a possible business they might be starting. We got to see some friends from our old wards in Sahuarita and Tucson cause we went to church twice! The kids, especially Ethan, were really happy to see their old friends and teachers.
It was a good time and here's some pics!
She was singing to the music on the dvd
Anytime there's a little dip in the road their arms go up like we're on a roller coaster

Fireworks

Stephen had to go to New Mexico yesterday for work so of course he comes home with tons of firecrackers, sparklers, snakes, smoke bombs, and lots of other junk. The girls loved the sparklers and snakes.

They love to wear Daddy's shoes

the socks just make it look so funny

Ethan is 10!

So I'm a really bad mom not blogging about this til almost a week later but here's pics from Ethan's big 10th b-day. When I picked him up from his mom he kept telling me how good it feels to be 10. Ethan picked Red Lobster for dinner and he ate ALL of his salmon and shrimp meal. Then we came home and had a poor excuse for a sword-cake (made by me). And it's supposed to be slightly odd-shaped because it's a sword from his WOW game. At least he loved it and it tasted good. Then he and Stephen set up their computers downstairs and played WOW all night. And by all night I mean til 4 am. Don't tell his mom!!! :) He kept saying all evening, "This is the best birthday ever!!" Ethan got money from Grandma Ricka, the WOW Trading card game with a bunch of cards and a new skateboard from us, a new shirt from his sisters and like a million WOW trading cards from Aunt Jana and her fam. He made out pretty well. And on Sunday his mom surprised him with going to his first ever D-Backs game against the Dodgers. (Yes, we were really sad we couldn't go) So the man is 10 now, show him some dang respect!

Cute pix

This morning Bailey woke up when Stephen got up for work. She was up a lot during the night cause Maddi kept her up so I told Stephen to let me put her back to sleep. He insisted that she wanted to get up for the day so I said fiiiiiiiiiiiiiine. So we went downstairs to eat some cereal. She kept saying she was cold so I helped her tuck up her legs into her t-shirt. I went over to the couch to work and 10 minutes later she hadn't moved so I kept calling her name. She wouldn't answer so I ran over there to see what was wrong and found her konked out in the chair.
After about 45 minutes her head started to fall so she layed across 2 chairs and slept for another half hour or so. Bailey is quite the artist. She's especially good at drawing eyes and circles. She's starting to draw people though!
Here's the girls in their cute new wally world dresses. That's right, 7 bucks
